6 Types of People Who Should Use WordPress

Who’s using WordPress, exactly? I don’t know, but I do know that there are millions of websites powered by WordPress. So many that WordPress now powers a quarter of all the web.

Even though we can’t establish who’s using WordPress, we can talk about who should use it. In this article, I’m going to cover several “personas” that can benefit from the WordPress ecosystem.

Type #1: The Freelancer

Whether it be a designer, a developer, a copywriter, a teacher, a composer, or a photographer, you can use WordPress as your base of operations. You can put up a portfolio (using our Notio theme, for example) and showcase your work, or simply run your blog to show that you know what you’re doing. Either way, your website will be the best way for your potential customers to find you, and work with you.

Type #2: The Blogger

WordPress is still the number one choice of bloggers because, well, it started off as a blogging software and made a name for itself in the golden age of blogging. (And then it evolved.) Even today, WordPress is the first brand to come into mind when someone wants to start blogging.

Type #3: The Editor

If you want to write, but don’t want to write alone, WordPress should again be your first choice when you build the website of your online publication–whether it be a news website, a magazine and such. With a number of awesome magazine/news themes for WordPress, your publication will be up and running in no time.

Check out our newest magazine theme “GoodLife”, for example. It has some awesome features like specialized video and gallery pages, a slick responsive design, and tons of customizable settings.

Type #4: The Networker

Did you know that you can build Facebook with WordPress? In theory, at least.

With the power of social networking plugins like BuddyPress, PeepSo or WP Symposium Pro, you can build a social network of your own. It could be a great opportunity for niche groups like local fishing enthusiasts or chess addicts.

Type #5: The Merchant

Hey, how about selling things online?

If you want to sell your products or services, WordPress will help you with that as well. WooCommerce, the biggest e-commerce plugin built for WordPress has been acquired by Automattic, the company behind WordPress. And we have four great themes for you: Bronx, North, UberStore, and Skillful.

Type #6: The Project Manager

Who said we can’t use WordPress as a project manager? (Nobody, really. I’ve just made it up to do a fun intro.)

Using plugins like WP Project Manager Pro, WP-Client or Project Panorama, you can make a project management interface and considerably improve your (or your team’s) productivity. Ever thought you can do that in WordPress?

Conclusion

Of course, there are more than seven types of work that can be done with WordPress. Born as a blogging software, then evolved to a content management system, and now evolving as an application platform, WordPress is a system that has (and will have) an infinite number of use cases. Why shouldn’t you be the next person to use it, then?
